Gijs van der Meer is a video artist and filmmaker, curator and producer with a background in Urban Geography and Visual Anthropology. His artistic practice focuses on topics such as migration, labour and our understanding of history, including the way humans deal with their given (physical) surroundings. His films have been shown at the museum for Image and Sound in Sao Paulo, the MoveCineArch film festival in Venice and, most recently, at IFFR 2023. Gijs is also the co-founder of the Rotterdam film collective Galerie de Jaloezie.
